Watch now | In this Weekly Wrap Up, Eddie discusses the implications of recent political events, particularly focusing on the Trump administration's corruption and the need for accountability. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the human costs of political decisions and the necessity of defending democracy. He then reflects on the philosophical underpinnings of democracy, drawing on the thoughts of Ralph Ellison and James Baldwin, and calls for a commitment to the public good.
Enjoy Atlanta for me too! America sees its people’s problems right in front of her, but she doesn’t care or seem to be interested. I will remain on the battlefield to tell my story of hope , and how we have to go on , and make the most of our lives for the sake of the people who gave theirs. Let our faith be bigger than our fears.
Just popping in to encourage you Eddie. I know you are contending with a lot of "cross winds" consisting of all sorts of issues as well as "the bribe". The environment for the kind of advocacy you give, and that is perennially needed, is not well prepared, but hang in there. I know you help me, and I believe many others, to sort through how we are thinking about what is going on in our country today. On behalf of all of us "swiney" types who have fallen short once or twice, or maybe more, don't give up on us or the others. Stay strong.
i think you are right that the democrats have to make clear what their policies are?..what they want to fight for? many democrat voters seem to want one thing and democrats officials another,in this same party ,it seems in some parts of the country it is in favour of one policy and object to it for a democrat in another?this is no unity of purpose here, more a desperate trying to knit everything together to get everybody together, and in doing so,there are no policies to avoid discontent? You might have a tenuous "unity" of democratic officials, but there is no firm policies to stand behind and run-on? this is perhaps done to avoid discontent from a southern democrat that might have to run on policies that would hurt him as opposed to a eastern democrat running on the coast?
I am pretty sure when the "new deal" was defeated by Sinema and Manchin, that many democrat officials gave a sigh of relief...it seems to many [as seen by hakeem jeffries recent meeting with tech bro donors and objecting to the number of democratic callers asking for action] that democrat officials are more interested in pleasing democratic donors&ticking the right box;s for party officials[stratching each others backs] and not voters.....if the democrat officials are willing for fight[or protect] for donors rather than voters...then why should the voters standup? this needs to be a joint action...democrats officials to lead and the voters to push for what they want...until this issue is MADE CLEAR as you observe, then either side[voters and officals]in the democratic party are on different sides of the fence, and the opposition to trump is in doubt? :(
Additionally there is hope here, as the more disastrous the trump rule is for the people in america is , that many will look to the democrats for that very leadership in desperation...Now if the democrats dont grasp the nettle,or are not unified, have no policies they can all stand behind and dont have a message for the future with the fight in them to push for that future...and just rely on discontent with trumps leadership with no fight in them...then i can predict that those people that have turned to democrats, will be disillusioned long before the next election..and i might even fear that disillusion might mean a longer "wilderness" for democrats than they would think or i would wish to beleive....there is opportunity slowly appearing here, but only if democrats are ready ,unified, and fighting fight, ready to lead...if they are not..the moment will pass, and i think many will resign themselfs to the new imperial dynasty of trump for some time to come....
I listened to the link and I very much agree that it was relevant to the issue of the effectiveness of the formal Democratic opposition to President Trump. The dems need to get it together and lead and stop, apparently, waiting for the voters to get riled up and out in the streets. Thanks for the link.

Thank you Dr Eddie for always remaining a voice of clarity and focus on what matters in times like these. Enjoy your time today @Morehouse.
