Watch now | Eddie discusses various pressing issues, including the selection of Pope Leo XIV, the humanitarian crisis in Israel and Gaza, U.S. immigration policies, economic challenges under the Trump administration, and the implications of recent executive orders on civil rights. He emphasizes the need for consistent critique of policies regardless of political affiliation and calls for a more imaginative approach to activism in the face of systemic injustices.
Okay, yes, you rambled, but it was good. I learned so much, I teared up a bit, I couldn't - well, I chose not to watch the killing, the murder... You said so much, I took notes. First, I enjoy this from you. I feel like you're talking just to me. As much as I appreciate you talking to Nicole and Stephanie, I sometimes hate that they still don't get it. Nicole is cool. But you know, sometimes I'm shook by why it's so hard for even the "good" folk to understand - so thank you for this "talk" today. PT Barnum of US Policies. My goodness, is this the first time I'm hearing this? Hilarious and so on point! I didn't realize that Tom Friedman said this about Israel - an incredible moment for sure. I do appreciate you reminding us about Obama policies when it came to immigration, but I wish you emphasized a little stronger that intention matters. A gun falling off of a table and shooting me in the leg, and a person pulling the trigger may both wound me exactly the same, make me bleed exactly the same -- but those two things are not the same. Intention matters. And, isn't the real thing that as a country we still have not fixed our immigration procedures? I feel like we keep losing that focus. If we could fix how it all works, people wouldn't be trying to get here illegally for a better life. But my goodness we cannot seem to fix this one thing... no matter the party in office! Best line, which I may borrow: "White supremacy doesn't require White folk to function." <-- how do they not understand this? Those police officers... I hate them just as much as any other police officer who killed and murdered. Period. And yes, Rubio should be ashamed of himself but so shouldn't ever other Republican. Honestly, I don't get what's happening to them folk. Standing there, letting this happen... to what end? And lastly, my dear sir, Yes, we need to re-imagine how to struggle in these times. I don't know what to do, how to do it and to stop crying for my country. But I need more of THIS, more people who are smarter about all of this, to keep holding me up and reminding me... so thank you. I appreciated this so much. I will continue to do my best in my circle as well. Till next week, I hope. Yes, sadly, This Is America.
[36:12] your point about taking action[or good trouble] is well thoughout...i do believe it also relates back to the civil rights action in america, last year [i think it was] i read a great book by thomas e.ricks where he equates the civil rights movement in america at its height, and looks at it in a strategic way..and he shows that a amazing amount of thought and organisation was in the background..more than many people might think...yes the thought is a good one, but like so many things, when passion is active, its hard to think strategically ..its a curse of our nature..but like so many people a movement, needs its generals to give it that strategic edge...sadly i dont think there is one for this pro-palestinian movements , unlike there was for the civil rights actions in america in the past :(i hope they find somebody
Why does the democratic party not have a team of people of a team with a rotating main speaker attaching trump his decisions to their consequences and how it affects everyday people’s lives??? Not policy discussions. Not interviews on opinion shows or podcast, but a daily briefing covered by major news and blasted all over social media. Simple answers that relate what he and the republicans do and how it affects the working people compared to the wealthy. It needs to compare what they have said and what they claim they are going to do against what their actual actions will do. “We support the troops”, nope, they cut the VA and this is where and this is what it is going to do to our veterans. “We are going to cut your taxes”, nope, if you make below this amount, your taxes will go up. If you make above this amount, you get a tax break that equals this amount. That amount is x% of $50 million in income. But your taxes go up by this amount and that is x% of your income. Now, you spend 99.9% of your income on daily living, but the person who made $50 million only spends 0.1% of that income on necessities. See the difference???
agree with you here..its not as if trump is leaving democrats nothing to work with that effects the lifes of americans everyday?...there should be pushback on the more relevant things that effect america lifes everyday...its just the democrats have lost their meaning..they dont really have policies they want to inact, they just have policies they more have to avoid [so they dont annoy those vital lobbists that provide money that funds the party] sadly, in the clinton years they calculated by moving away from working people they would pick up middle class voters..it worked initially but now they cant even get middle class voters to vote for them...its why perhaps their reputation is even below trump in the polls, but we always have schumers strongly worded letters to fall back on?[sarcastic sigh]....sadly the party more cares and worries about the future of the party..rather than the basis of why the party was formed :( they are lost
So, when a car load of citizens see a bunch of cops bearing a handcuffed man like was happening to Mr. Nichols and they all get out and start beating the 💩 out of the cops and handcuff them and slam their faces into the hood of their patrol cars as they call 9-1-1 to report what is happening, does the court say that bc those citizens saw what happened to Mr. Nichols and how the police were acquitted, they had no choice but to stop the officers??? Because that is what needs to start happening.
It isn’t violence when you are saving somebody’s life from being taken away by officers who will not be held responsible. Politicians aren’t going to do anything about the laws that protect them and law enforcement as a government agency isn’t going to do anything to change the behavior, so that only leaves one group to hold people like this accountable. I’m finished with waiting on the systems that are in place to work for those who do not have power or wealth. This has to stop! My bother was in law enforcement for over ten years and the harder he tried to be a good cop, the harder the bad cops made it on him. It came to the point that they made it very clear to him that if he didn’t shut up, join them or leave the department, they would remove him. He left. It went all the way to the top and the majority of the white cops were either white supremacist or proud racist. The county sheriff’s department was even worse. Nobody is coming to save us. The democratic party is still in denial of what is coming from the republicans. Trump and the republicans are not going to give up power without starting a violent coup. At that point, it is a second American revolution. Oh, and the military is also around 60% maga, so the military will be the first to openly clash over trump’s takeover of the government.
not sure that more violence makes things better..there simply have to be better and perhaps "real police"....and the fact that these police are doing this on camera means either two things 1) they dont think they are doing anything wrong, that is what they have been taught,is how they should behave and act....and/or 2)that they think that nothing will happen to them, despite it being all on camera? ..either way these are not police as i see it
note the following :-
a]On average, US officers spend around 21 weeks training before they are qualified to go on patrol.
b]The average training period for a UK police constable is between 18 and 22 weeks of classroom-based training, followed by a probationary period of 2-3 years on the job. For those new officers in their probation period (2 years for the Degree Holder Entry Programme and 3 years for the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship) officers will receive between 36 (1,440 hours) and 42 (1,680 hours) weeks of formal training before being signed off as fully operationally competent.
sadly the additional factor of firearms, and the american culture of looking out for oneself..means that all officers are more worried about their own self interest, rather than the job..and i think this is systematic for american policing policy :(
no i can understand the anger..it shouldnt be like this..these people are here to protect the citizens God damn it!...so yes i understand...but to be honest, the whole system seems wrong and broken..i am sure there are good people somewhere doing the job that dont get coverage...but its cant be right there are so many cases just the same as this...i can understand why the american "police" gets very little respect, but a great deal of "fear" :(
edit : yeah can understand it and your brothers anger....all the way thru this seems to be a club or a gang where corruption and disorder is rewarded and those that try to do the right thing are minimized , this is not a police system :(
One things for sure..with this attitude towards "outsiders" or "immigrants"..and most of those like me[in europe] can see it[thus the massive drop in numbers]..one thing , i query, how can the Olympics and the world cup football matches be held in america, when such a policy and attitudes are in place?...i can really see many of these organistations, looking to worrying about keeping this competitions in place[there are lots of money circling such things]but the possible PR disaster if america starts arresting the people coming to these events...could isolate america for a generation if it goes bad...i wonder if such competitions will change country? its a slight possibility if things get worse :(
Seeing the police video - these are not police&this is not policing[such are the statements from uk police officers], in my view this is a group of scared ,violent militia over armed, fearful and hyped at the same time..in no shape or form would such individuals be kept on the force in the uk...its just abysmal :( its almost ritualism that each new officer escalates the violence[without resistance] to show he is part of the group and nothing to do with justice or policing :( its like a perverse "fight club" :(
i see you talking about stephanie Ruhle, well trump just attacked her on truth social :(
but the two words for today are "order" and "corruption"
order- its just gone, the order of the american government ,its norms, the values, the system, the worldorder, order within law and order..its just gone or going....
corruption - israel is part of this, in america, the government is just gone, due to corruption..it was bad before...but now the government is just gone...all is corruption, the GOP stay silent ,not doing their jobs, to keep that grift going for them and avoiding trump kicking them out, the dems, are attacking bernie and AOC ,and i think would do all they can to prevent them talking power, and reducing that very corruption that bernie talks about[that very same lobbists that keeping children being shot in school , as well as letting israel control foreign policy and keeping medical prices high] ....to be honest i think the dems would rather side with trump than lose that business money..as for who is fighting for the american people? who knows? maybe AOC and bernie..but ones things for sure, the establishment[on both sides]with all that business money will be sure to destroy and breakdown any substantial candidates that wants to help the people :(

I think it's so important that you stress that we must be more imaginative and strategic in our fight. So many of our problems come in part from a failure of our imagination. I have no patience with anyone who says the election was about the price of eggs. Such BS. It may come as a great surprise to a lot of those white "Christian" nationalists that their policies will harm a lot of white folks, maybe even white Maggotts, maybe even cause them to die because of poor health care, have fewer babies because of no health insurance, turn to drugs because of no jobs....fewer not more Maggotts. And do you suppose they really think they will be able to avoid the effects of a complete collapse of our national security?
Professor, so glad to see you on the Substack Network!
The dismantling of NSF is horrific also. US science is unlikely to recover.

Marco is an opportunist!
Of course it is, that’s what he was and is promoting “white America”!
He just wants a completely ignorant population!
