I saw you on Stephannie Rhule tonight and I couldn't agree with you more. I've been saying this for eight years, and your comments tonight were one of the few instances when I thought someone told the truth about white America. I wish more people would say these things out loud. BTW, just FYI, I'm white.
Thank you…it’s been basically an indescribable week. I have oscillated between the gloom and doom of what America has done to us AND the hope of the future of our existence. I still haven’t settled on one emotion yet. But listening to you is a balm for my soul. What I do know is that, if nothing else, we are resilient. Our ancestors had to deal with much worse. Although I don’t claim to know what our future holds, I do know if we stick together, we can survive this. It won’t be easy but God (the God of our ancestors) has our backs.
My heart is heavy. As soon as my fifteen year old niece saw me, even before she put down her book bag, she asked what I thought about the election. We have never discussed politics. I asked her how she felt before I answered. "I'm kinda scared, I guess," she said. She is a lesbian and she has cause to be scared. I was honest with her and said that a sadness has overtaken me and I am still trying to sort things out. What else could I say at that moment? Her fear is different from mine, yet the same. I don't know how to shield her. How did my parents shield me as a child growing up during segregation? Outside our home, church and small community, how did they shield me from the whims and practices of the white world surrounding us? What of my confusion when a little blonde girl called me the n-word when I was six years old and my mother holding my shoulders? What of my father's humiliation because our family had to leave a boat race because they didn't allow coloreds? What of my mother's hypervigilance and keeping her girls close when the white electrician repaired something at our home? How do I shield my niece when she tells me that she heard that a trans teen wanted to commit suicide? I need to cling to her in some way. Her mental health. My mental health. Our mental health. The trauma and PTSD associated with living as "the other" in this barren land. For now, I will wrap my arms around her. Just hold her. Shed tears for her and tears for me. We are doing some hard work with you, Dr. Glaude. Searching our souls, minds, and hearts. This goes far beyond mining for your intellectual nuggets. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your guidance during these troubing times. Blessings.
WE THE PEOPLE live this "less than " life you Media types tell us is so wonderful. Not having your financial affluence we make table decisions each day what is or isn't possible w/ food, gas, etc. Your rhetorical blatherings & prevarications got Biden(The Big Guy) elected. WE ARE TIRED OF BEING LIED TO. If you were more truthful maybe your ratings would be higher. Then you focus on a man & his family who believes in America, The Constitution, our Bill Of Rights. And he literally took a bullet for his beliefs and to protect our freedom. You Media types sit behind your microphones, at a typewriter or computer fabricate the truth & think we are too stupid to know. You all should be ashamed. You & the Democrat Socialists see that WE THE PEOPLE can disseminate fact from fiction. We know that Kamala was going to eliminate private health care, mandatory confiscate our guns, force socialist medicine, and make us all equal(equally poor) if you are not already rich. Also have us pay for illegals trans-sex operations and hotels which we are doing now. And last but not least let us not forget her "Invisible Capital Gains TAX. We now have someone to restore American sovereignty, worldwide, bring back prosperity, jobs, lower inflation, make our cities & streets safer, especially for women & children. Make US Respected.
A concern of min that has become all too prevalent in our discourse today, the misuse of the term "racism" and an excuse for division. While it exists, its crucial that we do not allow to it to be weaponized as a tool to further divide us. As people, we all share the common dignity of being made int he image of God, and we must reject narratives that pit us against one another based on race. The Bible teaches us that we are all one in Christ and that love and compassion should be at the heart of how we interact with one another. We are called to love our neighbors regardless of their race, and to care for each other as brothers and sisters in the human family. Using accusations of racism to foster division only serves to harm our shared unity and purpose as people. It saddened me deeply that I heard this today.....
We are at a crossroads where our values, our safety, and our unity as a people are being put to the test. As a country founded on the principles of life, liberty and justice, we must reflect on our actions and policies, and whether they align with the moral and ethical foundations that have sustained us throughout history. Why are they not addressing the grave issue of abortion, particularly late-term abortion, which I believe is not only morally indefensible but, in my view, constitutes murder. The bible affirms that life begins at conception, as Psalm 139:13-16 speaks of God knowing us before we are born. The taking of innocent life, at such a late stage, if a violation of the sanctity of life that we as a society, should hold sacred. We must protect the most vulnerable among us, especially the unborn.
Secondly, I am deeply troubled by the rise in public indecency, such as the growing trend of nudity in front of our nation's most sacred institutions, including the White House. The bible is clear about the importance of modesty and respect for our bodies. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, we are reminded that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are called to honor God through our actions and how we present ourselves to the world. Public displays of indecency not only degrade human dignity but also undermine the values of respect and morality that are essential for the well-being of any society.
3- I feel compelled to address the issue of illegal immigration and the harmful effects of policies such as "catch-and-release" These policies allow individuals who enter the country illegally to be released back into society without sufficient vetting or accountability. This has allowed dangerous criminals , drug traffickers, and other who pose a threat to public safety to remain free, causing harm to American Citizens.
The democratic party has eroded moral values. Their policies contradict biblical teachings but also undermine the fabric of the nation. From Late term abortions to the abandonment of law enforcement and the use of division in the name of race. These actions stand in opposition to the principals of justice, life and unity upon which our country was founded.
As a nation rooted in Judeo-Christian values, we must return to the wisdom of scripture and the TRUTHS that have guided us for generations. We MUST protect life, uphold the law, foster unity and ensure that we are a nation where ALL PEOPLE regardless of background or race are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
And to close, as someone who cares about equality and unity, I would encourage this speaker to look at these issues with a mindset of understanding and growth, rather than division. It is important that he does not past challenges become reasons he limits everyone's potential today or blame others for what we ourselves can change.
Eddie Glaude, you are a conduit to sanity - not 'sane washing' but 'truth washing'! I watched, spellbound, by your lyrical words that found a place in me that let go of the 'gloom and doom' and just 'felt' your brilliant words and the peace they brought to me. I don't understand why you don't have hundreds upon hundreds of followers, because what you have to say is crucial to bringing light to the darkness surrounding our souls.
And speaking of 'Truth', your conversation brought closest to me what that might be. To keep ourselves closest to those we love and who love us. To protect. To whisper loving words - not 'it will be better in the morning' but 'it will be better as we stay close to one another' because the more we stay together, the more love surrounds us. Love must be the antidote to the hatred and cruelty that 'others' press us down with. The way you express yourself is so very calming and comes, somehow, close to feelings of love (at least within me). I must get some books by James Baldwin - he sounds more like a poet that a writer of words. I suspect he's both.
Thank you, dear Eddie, for your clarity of vision and the beauty of your words that brought me near to tears. Tears of feeling understood, with answers that sealed my soul back together. Bless you dear man. Take care, and be well.
It’s painful knowing that cowards gave us Trump! We will find peace when we stand up for what we believe. We have to go deep within until we reach the peaceful place of our heart. Sometimes our heart knows what the mind can’t see!
You are for sure not being a doom speaker and I so appreciate you not "sane washing" and not analogizing. The little tack on piece to your essay today is so so so important. Thank you.
I couldn't agree with you more. I wish to elevate your message, not because we are on the same page but because more people need to wrap their head around what is really going on.

This was exactly what brought me here and I am grateful for this truth telling.

God is our pilot and he will strengthen us for the journey ahead. Let’s end the week praying for the wounds of our nation to be healed!

Professor, thank you for all you do. We need you on BlueSky!
Yes, that made sense. More sense than anything else I've heard all week.
Thank you for this; it's so hard to understand what is happening.
