In the old cemetery of the Black Catholic Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi, the church in which I was raised, lies the unmarked grave of a man who was lynched on June 20, 1899, at 1:40 in the morning.
We must keep telling the true story of America. There is a danger when we live a lie. We will not heal from this violence, hatred and cruelty we are facing now until we confront and reconcile our past. Thank you professor Eddie.
White America just can't come to a reckoning of their past and present sins. Not sure what it will take. They don't want to read a book about it, watch a documentary about it, or discuss with Black folk about white racism toward people of color.
