I loved this article and it gave me insight on how important “rest” is. I’m home for the past 3mths post surgery and still feel as if I’m just free falling into task, after task, after task. Your words have inspired me to take some rest away from home just to sit, think, smell, hear calmness. Thank you again.

I can only imagine how much you needed this gift of “being.”

I just want to say how much I appreciate your perspective and thoughtfulness, whether I watch you on MS Now or read your contemplations.

Thank you.

Beautifully said and so true. I am retired and I have never enjoyed this time I am experiencing as I am now. It’s wonderful -slowing down being with yourself, friends, and family- much needed!

Rest is antithetical to ‘schedule’ and male Americans would live longer if they mitigated their scheduling earlier in life as almost all women have to learn early on. Thanks for your humanity.

I’m happy you were able to get away to rest and spend time with friends, Eddie. 🙋🏻‍♀️Best of luck with your fall semester preparation! 📚

Well stated, and well deserved. I just subscribed after hearing your interview with Frank Figliuzzi, although I have appreciated your work and insights for years. You're not only a scholar, you are a treasure. I look forward to more of your wisdom and reflections in these turbulent times.

I agree rest is a luxury Americans are taught to feel guilty about. We should all rest and recharge to get ready for the days ahead.

Oh yes, those moments of stillness and replenishment do not need to be measured in weeks, just in quiet moments in woods or in laughter with friends. Thank you
