Lovely language and light. I remember how improbably the sinuous, high reaching and low hanging branches of the live oaks seemed outside the windows, how they touched upon the tin roof of my house in Georgia. The house was not a hundred yards from a marsh and the soil was so sandy that I had to water what plants I managed to coax from it both morning and evening. To see those oaks hold fast to it, supporting all that superstructure, for years enough to grow great with age was to learn to respect miracles. May your family embrace them this holiday season, our good professor.
Praying for you, your mom, her family and friends. I admire your writing and love the imagery of that wise, wizen old oak. We would all do we to see ourselves in that steadfast guardian.
Poignantly beautiful, human, sacred and full of compassion, love, and hope in the face of it all. You are a treasure, Eddie. Blessings to you and all whom you love. All are in my prayers. It has been a season, indeed! Hart
As I read this, 3 days past Christmas, I am praying your mom got good news for a birthday present this year - and will endure and thrive, like the live oak in the back yard. Blessings to you and your family, at Christmas and always.
Praying your mom gets some good news, Eddie.

Definitely a glorious Solstice to you and all loved ones. Hold the Light and keep walking forward. Onward and hold you loved ones close (yes!).
Your mom will be in my prayers.
Nostalgia at its best. Simplicity at its finest. Love fiercely as the storms of discontent begs attention.
With tears in my eyes, I'm praying for your mother and your entire family. Have a blessed Christmas and know you are loved.
