Every Labor Day I think about the hard work of my mom and dad, and what their labor made possible for me and my siblings. My mom worked the third shift at Ingalls Shipyard. My dad delivered mail in brutal Mississippi summers. Thank you both for EVERYTHING! On this day, let’s remember and celebrate hard-working people – not just in the middle-class – but the working people who wake up, clock in, and work every single day to make ends meet. They deserve a living wage. They deserve affordable housing. They deserve healthcare. Let’s lift up the workers who make this country possible.

Dr. Glaude,
I look forward to your Labor Day message every year, because my dad fought in WWW II, and Paul Robeson sang at the soldier’s send off from Boston. My dad shared the program with my brother and me for many years! Good memories and moments!
A few days late, but Anytime is a good time to hear that magnificent, subtle voice. Feel the same way about Mahalia Jackson. Good to refresh & recalibrate the ears.
