I love my mother’s cooking, especially her crabmeat dressing. Every Thanksgiving, as a child, I looked forward to eating it alongside collard greens, Mac n’ cheese, candied yams, and turkey (I stopped eating pork in college. So, everybody devoured the ham and told me what I was missing. A cruel and loving reminder.). My plate looked like a tiny version of Mt.
all have their favourites for the season, we dont have thanksgiving here in england, but we do have christmas dinner.....turkey, roast potatoes with parrnsips ,spouts granished in bacon with gravy....and then bubble and squeak the day after...and after...with cold meats..and then boiled bacon , peased pudding and dumplings the day after.... the mind will always remember my mums cooking as it does my grandmothers[father side] who could fill a table...even as my father said during the times of worldwar2 and after [when they had deeper rationing] :P
Blessings for a restful Thanksgiving and a successful crabmeat dressing. I “fear” all moms just eyeball the measurements….was doing this with my son this past weekend over something much simpler and my mom did with me when she was still with us. It was always by taste. 🙏🏼
You made me hungry reading this!! Thank You for the reminder; my parents and so many older matriarchs are gone but with cousins we try to hang on to those recipes and gather just the same! Happy Thanksgiving!
Beautiful! So eloquently written, a gentle reminder to all of the importance of pulling close those you love and are safe with. Those words and so many others resonate with me. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Your crab meat stuffing ritual with your Momma is very special, thank you for sharing.🙏
I needed this today
Love this—pull those you love and are safe with. Thank you ….. I’m intrigued by the crabmeat stuffing.
Beautiful. Thank you.
