Have been looking for a way to articulate my horror over what's happening to education. I've been saying for a decade that what allowed all of this is the deliberate eradication of creative or critical thought. Now we are in it, big time. Thank you for giving me words to pass along to folks who need to hear this when all I've been able to do is sputter.

Thank you. Parts of this essay will be meditations I undertake as I act with democracy in mind.

its one thing to try and understand white supermacy or disatifaction, its another to combat it...one things for sure, its usually linked to economic success..i seem to remember in ireland at the height of the troubles, where religious tensions boiled over and the two sides were at each others throats...and when the change came, much of that boiling over had lessened for the EU had put alot of money into Ireland, and with the new wealth circlating more people had more time for advancing themselfs and theri families rather than waste time with old grudges....it seems similar to america in some ways, where the industry of america is drying out due to competition where asian workers are just much more cheaper and the american lust for cheaper goods had helped collapse its own industry.....with the loss of industry, you have alot more uneducated people[and educated] people more desperate and looking for the easy answer to blame..and they have found it :(

To witt, i dont know a educated answer to all those carrying [or rediscovering]old gudges or bigotry , i only know that if you can revitalise efforts in those areas, to bring back the money that perhaps they can be distracted from old buried values that destroy civilized behaviour? As for democracy ,its only in the hands that wish to benefit the best from it , that interest lies..those that have taken it for granted, for they are at the top of advancement chain, like so many karens complaining of a minority person in their park, have misinterpreted "democracy" as their shield, rather than "all of the peoples "shield :(..and when that "shield" is not protecting the white americans as much as it should[in their opinion] then they are happy to disgard it :(

As for the universities they should welcome a fight, to show their merit, the universties are usually the first and most important battlegroup for democracies...sadly in this more tired america ,its all about money, privilege, power and influence, rather than ethnics, advancement , inclusiveness&values...sadly i rather think this is a battle the universities are not wishing for ..as it will hurts their pockets, and their values are lacking, unlike the past. I hope they do fight,it might show the people, more their beliefs' in america and take a lead, and that would show their students more life values/values in their faith in america, than any tuition might do? :(

This is edifying. Yet I remain paralyzed by the hall of mirrors that is on-line discourse/propaganda/advertising, which allows every one of us, including a MAGA enthusiast, to imagine that they are nobly embracing the democratic way of life that Dewey describes. How do we 1) collectively maintain our grasp on reality 2) enlarge the number of people committed to dealing with reality?

When did it become anathema to be a free thinker, to entertain all sides of an argument, to possess compassion, and consider that you might not know everything? Those who use "woke" as an insult are showing their ignorance and cruel natures.

Dr. Franz Fanon wrote:

"The educated Negro is the greatest threat to White Supremacy."

He was right.

Heck, Columbia U doesn't know what it is doing. They've bled in the water and called the sharks in and in the process, tarnished the school's legacy of righteous student movements over generations. It is heartbreaking.

It is this simple. Get rid of META!! Get off this platform and like platforms. Stop giving this criminal money to steal your rights and democracy. All businesses have a choice to move to Bluesky or Substack and promote their businesses. If you diminish the severity of Meta and just how little effort this takes then you don’t get to bitch. You are stubborn and out of line. Find your way to stopping with the excuses and JUST DO THE RIGHT THING. Nobody is entitled to justify their use of these platforms stealing from us all. Get here and preferably NOW!!

We all need to punish Meta! Nobody should be using facebook or Instagram as they stole your election, fill your children’s minds up with garbage and allow sex trafficking, drug trafficking and more on their platforms. Why would you be using this toxic scumbags platform at this point? Do you have no moral compass whatsoever?

Every single company you use BIG or SMALL should already have deleted their #meta account.  It is not acceptable for you to turn a blind eye.  This will be a stain on you.  You know what to do.  No #facebook or #instagram #x or #tesla!! https://apple.news/A7nRT3aF7QvWjbfkYydVbgQ
