I woke up at some ridiculously early morning hour on Saturday, on the third day of the new year, only to read that the United States had kidnapped Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
I'm almost too sick at heart to post a comment, but I just had to thank you for sharing something of yourself with us. It's like a perfume for our souls.
I too woke up very early Saturday morning to warm and loving thoughts of what would have been my mum’s 100th birthday. Thinking of her and missing her still, now gone 23 years. Then I looked at my phone and I too said “shit”. Because I am alone I was able to shout it out loud.
Then my thoughts turned to my father, who served in the Navy for 25 years during WWII and Korea. I wondered what he thought of his beloved Navy having to carry out these horrible operations. I wanted him to comfort me somehow, some way. He would have been 100 today.

Once again, I am reminded of the Darwin awards---we keep demonstrating our unfitness for survival, our ripeness for extinction. Our tax dollars are being spent to disappear our own citizens, murder people in little boats, kill people in a country that has not threatened us, kidnap its leader and his wife, and seize its oil. A critic I read says of Trump and MAGA: "All of these people are conscious, feeling actors who respond to incentives, pressure, social status, and persuasion just like anyone else." I find that increasingly hard to believe. What pressure or persuasion or incentives would it take, do you think, to work a miracle? And don't tell me to pray.
Funny how some Americans are too dense to hold two thoughts in their minds at the same time… the Florida “Sinclair -Owned” press is full of stories of celebration and joy on the part of “refugees” from Venezuela so gleeful that Maduro has been deposed. I understand this. If you have been the victim of oppression you natural want to see your oppressor get his, but these same so-called news
Outlets can’t seem to fathom that the means by which this was accomplished places is squarely in the category of “thug nation”. MAGA brain can suddenly throw the switch from seeing someone from Venezuela as “illegal” to righteous “refugee”, but can’t understand that failing to demand congressional oversight and control for any military actions that put U.S. troops in harms way is beyond essential. Otherwise, your next startling wake-up will be to learn that Trump has ordered a nuclear strike on Iran because they are “very bad people” and suspected drug traffickers. WAKE UP NOW!
That’s it, all of this, not one lie detected. America 🇺🇸 gurl, you’re better than what those small men and women with cruel frozen hearts are doing to your soul.
