In this first Weekly Wrap Up of 2026, Eddie begins by reflecting on a year of profound challenges and examining the current political landscape under the Trump administration. Eddie opens with a personal celebration of his mother’s health while quickly pivoting to a critical analysis of domestic and international crises.
The discussion explores the intersection of political “grift,” systemic cruelty, and the urgent need for a transformative democratic agenda
Dr. Glaude, thank you for this important wrap-up, and for sharing the wonderful news about your mom. So happy for you and your family! Wishing you all the best in 2026. I have high hopes for the year ahead. Love Mayor Mamdani and the John Denver coda. Big virtual hug for your mom! 💖
Happy New Year. I’m so happy to hear of your mom’s fantastic test results. As we enter 2026 , let’s continue to find happiness in the small moments of our lives.
I live in California. I'm originally from Boston. So... my "hate" of New York is "real" and based entirely on sports - the Red Sox, the Celtics... you get the idea. It's surfacy on several levels, but if you know - you know. It's there. But when I tell you, my respect and gratitude for New York City and it's new Mayor, Mr. Mamdani is beyond my own understanding... I'm not lyin'. He is so refreshing! So hopeful! And my love of New York is next level for ushering in, what I hope is a new time in "America". With that being said, I loved that Mayor Mamdani basically erased former Eric Adams executive orders by rescinding them all with the stroke of his pen. I know it's date specific. I know it's not that answer to everything. And I know being a Mayor is vastly different than being President - but is it not possible, to have that same kind of energy when we have a new President (if he's sane and most likely a Dem and maybe more Liberal than not)? I think part of the plan has to forget the American Dream - the old one - that was never about any of us poor folk anyways. Right now, the American Dream needs to land more on how can we get out of this mess we are in? And it's NOT just Trump. It is ALL OF IT. The hate. The cruelty. The grift. The Republican party is of SHAME. Not just for allowing this horrible man to be in office, but to continue to enable him TO THIS DAY. So, you're right -- we need a plan. But I'm just saying, maybe New York is providing an outline and maybe people need to take notice. Second, I don't want to read Jack Smith deposition, but I will now... (On a side note, how lovely to hear about your mom's good news! YES! ). Happy New Year Eddie (and everyone else in the NSC - uhem, "Native Son Community").
I want to thank you for speaking out, speaking up for those voiceless individuals and families suffering in Gaza. Humanity, empathy should not be on a hiearchy, our compassion 'should' entend to all people without them having to fit into a category. I look forward to your honest, and bold reporting, lets go!
Thank you! And good news about your mom. We can and must do better as Americans to take back the power that is ours. Use our voices while we still can! Stop settling for business as usual with money controlling politics.
So happy for your mom and your family. That is good news. Thank you for speaking truth and reminding us that it is up to us. No one is coming to save us, we have to demand from our elected representatives our fair share. A country that protects everyone, not just the chosen rich few. You keep us grounded and for that, I am very thankful. We need to stop settling for the status quo (where money controls all politics). There is another way.
Great news about your mother's health and so good to hear good news in these trying times. I watched Mamdani's inaugural for a large dose of something I haven't felt for a while: hope. Link your folks to Cornelius Eady's exceptional poem and how he read it. He's talking your talk.
Great piece. One question. Why don’t you run for office? Your scholarship, vision, morality, and passion are needed to get America back on track in our pursuit of the perfection of the American concept of equality and justice for all. Thank you for leadership. I am serious. Please consider running for office
Wishing you health and balance in this new year. So grateful to learn your mother is now cancer free. Keep speaking out. We need your voice.
Wonderful news about your mom. Honest and inspirational words. Thank you. I am all in!

Thank god we have people who see our world in the way you’ve outlined here. It gives me hope we are not the only ones.
