Eddie Glaude's message comes when this country is in dire need of a collective conscience. One by one we must do our part for the collective.

'Here King draws on the work of Ralph Waldo Emerson "Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind"

Eddie Glaude speaks so beautifully and thoughtfully. I will use the phrase”I prefer not to” and try what little I can do to stop the “continuous loop of freedom snatching”.

"What does it mean to have Dr. King and the movement that made him shadow Donald Trump’s inauguration. It is a startling representation of two Americas, and the choice that confronts each of us. Which America will you choose? Whose legacy will you claim?"🎯‼️

Thank you for this. So many quotable phrases, but what will stay with me is the title of creative non conformist. I will hold this close to me as I run for local office.

the struggle, pain and hope for the future in the past[and the day it represented] has been eclipsed by the stupid, the greedy and the bigots of the future...i think the views from those that have been sucked into trumpcoin hoping for "their cut" from both the working class and the wealthier class speaks volumes.....sadly, as it was said on the seven samurai :-

Kambei Shimada: This is the nature of war: By protecting others, you save yourselves. If you only think of yourself, you'll only destroy yourself.

Now america, is full on looking out for the individual, and not caring about the collective whole...in such circumstances, the future and the prospects for america are already damning.....some of the images of those in recent LA fire, where some americans were hiring their own firefighters to protect their own houses and nothing else , was a example of this... :(

Dr. Glaude, thank you for the thoughtful and timely article. On this day, we once again realize America has failed its most recent test. Now, we must endure the tribulations. Dr. King was a foreseer of our times. He knew the journey would be strenuous. People would be challenged. We enter a period of historical importance. For now, it is our time to respond. If we answer the call, I believe America will return to the righteous path. All Americans must rise to the occasion, for future generations depend upon us all. Robert Frost’s lines apply aptly, “The woods are lovely, dark, and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.” There is much work to do. Stay in the fight Eddie! You don’t realize how many people you impel to moral action. Let us all move forward together!

It must be remembered that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., though majestic and courageous and successful, was by 1968 being set aside for the more forceful Black Power movement. The wonderful Louis Armstrong - who *invented* jazz became an Uncle Tom.

Moral: We must remain resolute despite the allure of quick remedy. His values remain core, let’s observe them, shall we?

Battle was slow in the Sixties … but the results of democracy and civility lasted nearly 50 years.

“Just as a candle can’t burn without a fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life”-Buddha

Dr. Eddie,

Yesterday, I was moved as the Cleveland Orchestra played and The Martin Luther, Jr. choir sang Hold On.

Today, I’m moved by your many inspiring words and thoughts.

Remember, God has put his plan in place. He is the master planner. He is all powerful and never fails!

We have gotten through tough times before and we will get through this too.

Just Hold On!
